A WINNER WITH OUR FIRST STARTER
Not only was Twin Town Pacific Bloodstock's first runner at Yarra Glen last Saturday, she duly saluted to become the syndicate's maiden winner since being approved as an approved FSL dealer by ASIC some three months ago.
Twin Town is trained at Caulfield by Mick Price and was ridden by Dan Brereton to an impressive first up performance, winning easily by 1 ¼ lengths.
The mare, now four to Southern Hemisphere time, but as yet still three in her native England, was purchased at the 2005 Tattersalls December Sales.
Twin Town was bred by Juddmonte Farms, one of the world’s largest breeders, who also maintain a significant presence as an owner in England, Ireland, France and the United States. They have had a modest presence in this part of the world to date, but are the breeders of Tugela, dam of three times Melbourne Cup champion, Makybe Diva as well as the dam of the John Hawkes trained, Group one winner, Domesday.
Trick of Light, who was so impressive in winning her three initial Australian starts, before being a gallant second at Flemington on the last day of the Melbourne Cup carnival was also bred by Juddmonte and was sold at the same sale that Twin Town was purchased at.
Twin Town went to the races on the back of an impressive trial win and was expertly prepared for her maiden win by Mick Price who has nurtured the filly so patiently since she came to Australia in the early part of 2006.
By Halling the leading sire of stayers in England in 2005, Twin Town is from the unraced Danzig mare Contiguous. She in turn is a sister to 10 winners and seven stakes winners, including English Oaks winner, Reams of Verse and multiple Group one winner Elmaamul. Twin Town is also closely related to high class racehorse and sire Zafonic.
Twin Town will now have a quiet week before being prepared for her next race start and her brilliant victory on Saturday will do her value as a broodmare no harm. All concerned are confident this victory will be the first of many more to come.
